That is one of the many reasons not to get this version of DooM 3, not just because Zenimax has touched it but i think it's the only "official" DooM game that hasn't had an ID dev team behind it as i'm pretty sure Bethesda are the people that made this version of DooM 3. The only thing you'd want to grab from this version of DooM is the Nerve. No, you can't play Brutal DooM directly through DooM 3 BFG Edition, although as the guys say you can get a source port and play with the classic DooM wads that way, not that'd you'd want to of course as they've changed it slightly.
